Video Shows Fatal Redlands Shooting
Police release video stills of men they say were involved in the Saturday morning attack that killed a Calimesa man.

Video released by Redlands Police of the fatal shooting that took the life of a Calimesa man on Saturday shows a gunman pulling the weapon and firing on a frightened crowd.

A video that was played for the media Tuesday showed six men in front of Charlie Jewell's who appeared to flee in the same direction after shots were fired by the gunman.

“We are hopeful that the press conference will lead to the identification of the suspects in this crime,” said Redlands Police Chief Mark Garcia.

The shooting happened in front of Charlie Jewells at 1 E. State St. The video, captured by one of the many city operated cameras, shows several men being moved outside about 1:30 a.m. Investigators said the fight began inside the bar.

The fight is moved outside, where one man -- reported by some news outlets as the shooting victim -- punches another, causing a melee. As the fight escalates, one man is seen pulling a weapon and firing before fleeing.

Kruze Levusi Kuaea, 22, of Calimesa, was fatally wounded. He died at 2 a.m. An unidentified 22-year-old and 23-year-old were taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center. Both were seriously injured, but expected to survive, Garcia said.

The victim’s mother made a tearful plea.

“Nov. 19 was a very sad day for our family," said Kuaea's mother, who asked not to be identified for fear for her life. The shooting is beleived to be gang related. "Our son Kruze Kuaea was an angel among us. He did not deserve what happened to him. The people who shot him and killed him do not deserve to be with their families or to be celebrating what they did."

"I just plead with the public that anybody, anybody at all, who has any evidence, anything you (give) detectives that can help would be greatly appreciated,” she said.

Kuaea was the second of four siblings, she said. He was a role model to them, she said.

"They looked up to him," she said. "This is devestating to his family."
