    Default Instructor Certification

My current company has decided to do some major re-vamping for the better and one thing we are looking at is having an In-House trainer for our Use of Force Training.

Can anybody offer some recommendations and/or suggest somewhere that offers Instructor Certification(s) within the Golden Horseshoe.

    Thanks

At the end of May and beginning of June a completly Canadian made/Canadian content driven use of force training program will be show cased at CANSEC in Ottawa. I have knowledge of a few of the people that will be putting it together and they are quality people. Might be worth a look when it gets mainstreamed.

Is going "in-house" really an improvement ?

As a third party Trainer, I am of-course biased, but maybe we can banter this around a bit ?

    1. Liability - Training your own people increases the company's exposure in the event of unfortunate incidents.

    2. In house Trainers are often tasked out to regular duties, and are less likely to remain qualified through regular Instructor development training than specialized agencies.

3.In house Trainers are often pressured by management to pass less then stellar employees that may not meet the mark with independants.

4.In house Trainers are subject to policy written by those outside the training circle, many variables effect the development of training regimen, these are less restrictive in reputable outside agencies.

These are just a few of the things that have cropped up with the larger companies that I have experience with, it usually turns out to be economics rather than excellence that drives the decision to go "in house".

But, as I said, I am biased, what say we ??
