    Although i would not mind it in the least if Fire and EMS did merge into one department.

    I believe it will be great, I know Toronto is trying to cut on their budget, they were thinking of merging EMS with FD, but you know union oppose it. NY city is the perfect example and it works well. I am not sure but I think they have other 3rd party EMS

    Most FDs in the States have paramedics who are also fireys. There is also a swing in a lot of SWAT/SRT teams to have team members who are cross trained as medics.

    Rody....TPS didn't have to cut their budget...they received an extra $6million but no additional officers until the middle/end of 2012. Their budget is now almost, ready for it........... $1 billion dollars a year.

    This is crazy I knew they won't be able to cut their budget, it's seem TPS is the highest paid Police. I guess they can have what they want.

    and yes most of the States do have F/F as EMS
