A security guard in his 50s remains in Gatineau hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack during an altercation with two robbery suspects at a shopping mall Wednesday night.
Gatineau police and paramedics responded to the Promenade de l'Outaouais on Maloney Blvd. shortly after 8:30 p.m.
A mall security guard, a man in his 50s, was involved in an altercation with a man and a woman suspected of shoplifting from one of the mall's stores.
The security guard fell backwards in the melee, collapsing on the ground, said Const. Isabelle Poirier.
The man was unconscious and had no pulse when paramedics arrived on the scene. He remains in the Gatineau hospital in a coma.
The security guard's co-workers apprehended the female suspect and police located the male suspect nearby a short time later.
The male suspect, 43, and the woman who's in her 40s, face robbery and breach of probation charges. Assault charges are possible as well, said Poirier.
